Changes in the Landscape
Sunday, my brother-in-law, David, my sister, Cathie, and I went to their land in search of purple wildflowers. Although we didn't find what we were looking for, the land was beautiful. I tried to imagine what it looked like before there was any construction. I imagined unfathomable beauty and sounds of nature. I breathed in what once was. The next few minutes I enjoyed the land in its current state. Then I began to picture what it would look like in its future life, with a home, a gazebo perched on the side of the hill, little girls playing in the open space and me in my private room with sisterly maid service. :-) Each change in the landscape is beautiful in its own way.
My life is a landscape. Although the tearing up of the land is sometimes quite painful, I appreciate the changing beauty around me. When I don't remember your name (or mine) I hope I'll always remember that my life is just a change in the scenery. The landscape will always be changing, until I'm in Heaven. That will be the ultimate and final landscape change.
